Congratulations to Adam Duritz for not appearing on Blender’s list of the top 25 musical wusses of all time. I’m guessing they were playing nice after naming his hair one of the top worst things to happen to the music industry here a few months ago.

Leave it to Jake (yes that’s the Jake of jakesticka.com) to waste even more hours of my life with his internet finds. This time we have an amazing little site that allows you to scan photos of people to determine which celebrities they most resemble. I was going to post my findings, but seeing as how I am unsure how people will take the results, I decided to turn it into a little game.

But first, let me break the ice with my results:
sophia loren, jodie foster, benny goodman, courtney love, hilary duff, courteney cox (wasn’t she the most beautiful person circa 1994? cha ching!), kevin mitnick (WTF!), christina ricci

Now that everybody knows just what kind of technology we’re working with here, let’s proceed with the festivities. I scanned pictures of 6 of jlou’s most loyal followers. For those of you not chosen, I’m sorry. I probably just didn’t have a digital picture of you available. The lucky people are: Craig, Jeremy, Julie, Jen, Nikki, and Ama. Your task, should you choose to accept it, is to match the jlou fan with the celebrities they most resemble. Keep in mind that gender is not taken into consideration. Here are the celebrity groups:

A. Juliette Binoche, Cameron Diaz, Judy Garland, Shania Twain, Britney Spears (the ‘oops, i did it again years’)

B. Renee Zellweger, Julianne Moore, Hilary Swan, Avril Lavigne, Britney Spears (the star search years)

C. Arnold Schwarzenegger, David Beckham, Tommy Lee Jones, Stephen Jay Gould, Dalai Lama, Matt LeBlanc, Saddam Hussein

D. Shannen Doherty, Jack Kerouac, Demi Moore, Strom Thurmond, Colin Farrell, Robert Redford, Benito Mussolini, Charlie Champlin

E. Katie Holmes, Isabella Rossellini, Angelini Jolie, Martina Hingis, Christina Ricci, Nicole Kidman

F. Bill Gates, Carol King, John Travolta, Dustin Hoffman, Quentin Tarantino, Pete Sampras, Richard Nixon, Tim Burton, Nicole Kidman, Jack Kerouac

You can only imagine my joy as I read the latest issue of Blender. OAR’s new album got a mighty 2 stars (the same as Hilary Duff’s, fyi). Oh yes, and the reviewer seemed to think the only reason you can’t say they sold out is because they were never cool enough in the first place. Take that suckers!
You say: oh
I say: ah
You say: Revolution!
I say: JA!!!

Well, after a week and a half of me insisting, good old BlueCross BlueShield of Montana has finally agreed that they are supposed to be covering me. I am hoping that maybe the $200 I dropped with the dr. recently will now count for more than just being made to feel dirty. However, with how high my deductible is combined with how much I actually need health insurance, it may not really matter anyway.

I also received my student loan repayment schedule in the mail today. I would like to invite all of you to a party at my place (wherever that may be) on 11/7/2015, the day my last loan payment is due. I just checked, and it’s even a Saturday. It’s nice to know that it will at least be possible to pay off my loans before any kids I may ever have are headed off to college. I just keeping thinking about something one of my economics profs said once about how it is actually okay to be in loads of debt and how you shouldn’t necessarily worry about it. That should give me some comfort for the next ten years. Except that some day it might be nice to actually own a home, in which case that thought will keep me happy for basically the rest of my life. May all of you take comfort in it as well.

Today was it - the day I wait for all year. No, not my birthday. No, not the VMA’s. It was yearly exam day! Now, I think that I’m quite the healthy person. I filled out all the medical history forms they gave me, putting an ‘x’ in very few ‘yes’ boxes. My body’s not perfect, but there sure is worse human fluid that you could come in contact with; this is for sure. The nurse I saw seemed to think otherwise though. She got only a few lines down in my background before the discussion took a rather disheartening turn:
Her: You have ________ !!!! (You can fill in with your favorite disease. She said the name of a disease that I don’t exactly have, but had to put down anyway because of the circumstances. Have no fear, you probably know about it already. I just decided to leave it blank for the sake of keeping something in the neighborhood of privacy.)
Me: Well, sort of but I was treated and all, so you really don’t have to worry. It’s just that how the question was worded and all…
Her: When was the last time you had a __________? (You can fill that in with the name of a procedure to check for the progression of your above favorite disease.)
Me: Well, never.
Her: When was the last time you were tested for __________? (Fill in with favorite disease again.)
Me: Not since I tested positive. I’ll just test positive again.
Her: (makes facial expression version of ‘Oh, yeah. That’s true.’
Me: (makes facial expression version of ‘I just lost faith in her medical knowledge.’)
Her: How do you protect yourself from genital worts?
The conversation went even more downhill at this point. The details of which I will leave out for the sake of all of us. By the time the actual examination began, she was wearing a surgical mask and two pairs of gloves. I need more ice cream now.

For Amanda!

Filed under: Uncategorized — jlou @ 9:44 pm

In honor of Amanda’s blog name (however temporary it may be), I would like to list my top 5 favorite Amanda/Jessie events and/or activities. So here they are, in no particular order:
1. Eating our lettuce garnishes at Shari’s.
2. Taking pictures of basketball boys while pretending to be taking pictures of Nikki and blasting Genuine from my late ’80s luxury coupe (may it rest in peace).
3. The bowling dance.
4. The time those Post Falls boys took our pictures for the yearbook, showed them to all their friends, and claimed that we just “really really wanted our pictures taken.”
5. Man Stallion!

Given the opportunity, Amanda Briggs of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho will change your sexual preference on any profiles you may have and then make fun of you for not being straight. What a sicko.
