Today I purchased what I count to be my 5th drivers license product in the past 4 years. This, my friends, is simply ridiculous. I also fail to see the point. I propose some sort of national license. Or perhaps some sort of multi-state license for all those states that don’t care if you actually know their laws (Montana, for example). Did I mention that the temporary license they gave me today is too big to fit into my purse even? So now I’ve just dropped $40.50 to be able to drive in this fine state until 2013, and I need to find a new purse to use for the next 2 - 6 weeks. I considered making up the cost by selling my Idaho license to freshman looking to join in on Wasted Wednesday style (dare I call it) fun. To contribute or not contribute, that is the question. Do you deny this service? Or do you deny the character building experience of weaseling your way past the Red’s bouncers in new and creative ways? I think I shall take the legal road because (a.) Police scare me and (b.) I don’t know any minors anyway.

Quite some time ago, Tracey prompted a discussion regarding whether it was better to sneeze into a tissue and toss it or sneeze into your elbow. It took me some time, but I have the answer! While having dinner with a friend of mine who is currently interning at a hospital, she sneezed into her elbow and excused her ‘hospital sneeze’. I pressed for details and learned that the goal is to avoid germing up your hands. Therefore, the elbow sneeze is the way to go unless you can guarantee that your tissue will block all germs. So Tracey, should you ever get enough free time to return to us, there is your answer.

Considering that I have yet to find a suitable hobbie, I believe my energy would be best used by focusing on penmanship. My inspiration comes from writing samples I have from our very own Jules. For those of you unfamiliar with her handwriting, it is not really handwriting at all. It’s a font. It should be available within Photoshop. Graphic designers would shed tears of joy.

You can only imagine my joy as I read the latest issue of Blender. OAR’s new album got a mighty 2 stars (the same as Hilary Duff’s, fyi). Oh yes, and the reviewer seemed to think the only reason you can’t say they sold out is because they were never cool enough in the first place. Take that suckers!
You say: oh
I say: ah
You say: Revolution!
I say: JA!!!

It seems that I have recently become addicted to shopping for used books on amazon.com. Where else can you find new books for as little as $0.01 (plus shipping, of course, but still a hell of a deal)? I offer you all this mini book report on the most recent book I read, The Dogs of Babel by Carolyn Parkhurst:

Guy dedicates his life to teaching his dog how to talk in an attempt to learn the details surrounding his wife’s sudden death. Reader is left convinced that dead wife was crazy and wondering why guy is so upset that she’s gone.

For those of you sold by my summary, I see that you can now get a ‘very good’ hardcover for $0.11 at the moment. You could also probably ask me nicely and get a ‘like new’ one for free.

If you ask me, Amazon should just give up with their recommendation feature (?). I don’t know the logic behind their recommendations, but it should definitely be rethought. I’m just saying, I think the last person to recommend Weezer to me got punched.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everybody that did their best in guiding me to be hip from the ankle down this past week. In the end, I decided to stop thinking about what may or may not be trendy (because that was just getting far too confusing for me) and just find something that seemed Jessieish. What I settled on is this. Unfortunately, I think that the majority of my wardrobe has been based upon the big black boots, so my matching and/or clothing variety may be lacking for the next little bit. Please be patient while I sort things out.

Also, I went in for a little trim of my front layers today, which somehow turned into a trim of everything in front of my ears. The result is a style that, given my hair’s natural desire to wrinkle, looks terribly like one of the Friend’s styles circa 1994, when left to its own devices. And let’s be honest. Those styles were little more than glorified girl mullets. Fortunately, I think I can create something quite satisfactory with a little gel and maybe some last resort blow drying. Go ahead and copy this one, Briggs. I dare ya’.

Well, after a week and a half of me insisting, good old BlueCross BlueShield of Montana has finally agreed that they are supposed to be covering me. I am hoping that maybe the $200 I dropped with the dr. recently will now count for more than just being made to feel dirty. However, with how high my deductible is combined with how much I actually need health insurance, it may not really matter anyway.

I also received my student loan repayment schedule in the mail today. I would like to invite all of you to a party at my place (wherever that may be) on 11/7/2015, the day my last loan payment is due. I just checked, and it’s even a Saturday. It’s nice to know that it will at least be possible to pay off my loans before any kids I may ever have are headed off to college. I just keeping thinking about something one of my economics profs said once about how it is actually okay to be in loads of debt and how you shouldn’t necessarily worry about it. That should give me some comfort for the next ten years. Except that some day it might be nice to actually own a home, in which case that thought will keep me happy for basically the rest of my life. May all of you take comfort in it as well.

For years now, I have received one question: “Why the big, black boots all the time, Jessie? In the summer: boots. In the winter: boots. At the beach: boots! Why, oh why, the boots?” For those of you who have not heard the story, here you go: Long about the time I turned 16, I decided that I just had to have black boots to go with the flared jeans that were all the rage at the time. So what did I do? I went out and bought ubercool black boots to sport. About once a year, I would need to replace my boots, and every replacement seemed to be bigger and blacker until I reached the pair I have today, which I’d like to think make me taller than my dear Nicolet friend. Well, it is time to replace my boots again. Rather than trying to find an even bigger pair, I thought maybe it would be a good idea for me to try a different type of footwear, as I am always somewhat worried about the fact that little has changed in my style since the mid-nineties. After an extensive shoe store search, I have been unbelievably unsuccessful in my search for a non-ugly boot replacement. Then today (while wearing classic running shoes), I realized that every time I stood up, my pants tucked themselves into my shoes, causing me to look an awfully lot like a certain former professor of mine I would rather not resemble. Then I would have to take time to untuck my pants while trying to not fall over. Geez. I never had this type of trouble with the boots. Now I just don’t know what to do. Such a dilemma….
